BBTV launches crypto payment solution for media monetization

BroadbandTV Corporation (BBTV) content creators will soon be able to be compensated in cryptocurrency.

BBTV recently launched Pay to Crypto, a payment system that allows artists to be compensated in Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and USD Stablecoin (USDC). Creators merely need to select a crypto asset and give a compatible wallet address with the newly released solution, and BBTV will pay their earnings directly to them.

Being paid directly in cryptocurrency is a nice bonus for certain creators. Content creator Joseph Hogue shared his joy in the announcement, noting: “Being paid directly in cryptocurrency saves me time and at a minimal charge compared to the multiple transfers from my bank to different wallets.”

According to BBTV chairperson and CEO Shahrzad Rafati, the initiative to include crypto payments is in reaction to creator enthusiasm. “Creators have been quite outspoken about their want to participate in the Web3 revolution, and we’re really delighted to be leading the way,” Rafati added.

The company works with content providers of all sizes to detect and monetize videos submitted by fans on sites such as YouTube. Individuals as well as larger corporations such as the NBA, Viacom, and Sony Pictures are currently served by the company.

The crypto payment system is being implemented with the assistance of Netcoins, a subsidiary of BIGG Digital Assets Inc. BIGG CEO Mark Binns also chimed in, saying, “converting their payments from USD into other currencies changes the narrative of what their payments can do.”

This is not the first time the company has dabbled in the cryptocurrency market. In 2021, BBTV also took part in a seed round for Nifty’s Inc., a social nonfungible token platform.

Meanwhile, the recent acceptance of cryptocurrency payments is not confined to publicly traded companies such as BBTV. According to a recent Visa survey, small and medium-sized enterprises will also accept digital assets in 2022. Furthermore, nations such as Iran are planning to establish procedures that will allow firms to complete payments using cryptocurrency.
