Coinbase CEO Brian armstrong is being sued by blockchain accelerator MouseBelt Labs for allegedly stealing technology from Knowledge, a startup that delivers scientific papers with incentives in the form of tokens. It states Armstrong developed a similar initiative called ResearchHub using confidential information. As a trial approaches, “The Hash” panel looks at Armstrong and MouseBelt’s situation.

Armstrong was said to be working on a platform for publishing academic exploration that would employ tradable commemoratives. These commemoratives would be used to award druggies for their benefactions to the ResearchHub ecosystem.
It was filed December 17 by MouseBelt Labs.
The company was said to be developing a tradable token platform for publishing academic research. Users would be rewarded for their contributions to the ResearchHub ecosystem with these tokens.
Armstrong was said to be working on a platform for publishing academic exploration that would employ tradable commemoratives. These commemoratives would be used to award druggies for their benefactions to the ResearchHub ecosystem.
Armstrong came apprehensive of Knowledge and offered a fiscal investment as well as the option of launching the commemoratives on Coinbase, the report said. MoustBelt Labs was another platform investor.
Armstrong, MouseBelt said, didn’t want to help fund and make Knowledgr, but rather wanted to steal the latter’s idea and exclude a contender.
In substance, MouseBelt claims that Coinbase reproduced Knowledgr’s inventions and incorporated them into its own platform.
Armstrong and the other Defendants intended to steal MouseBelt’s work for themselves, not only to exclude a implicit contender, but also to gain for ResearchHub the benefits of the fiscal, design, and specialized coffers that MouseBelt invested in Knowledgr, the complaint document bared.
This allowed ResearchHub to launch a successful platform grounded entirely or mainly on MouseBelt’s work sooner and at a lower cost.
Coinbase anticipated to fight back
Coinbase has made no public response to the case. The validity of the action’s grounds remains to be seen, and the exchange is sure to fight back hard.
The exchange has had its share of contestation in the history, but it has managed to flourish despite it.
Allegations of racism and a “ company-first” plant policy have been at the center of two of Coinbase’s most recent issues.
The ultimate, which some condemned as not being in the spirit of decentralization, outlawed contentious plant addresses.
