According to the podcaster, cryptocurrency will either “break apart totally” or provide an opportunity for society to devise a “better way to live our lives.”

World’s biggest podcaster, Joe Rogan, has a ‘lot of hope’ for crypto

In a recent podcast interview, controversial comedian and commentator Joe Rogan stated that he “had a lot of hope” for cryptocurrencies.

Rogan discusses the future of cryptocurrency with fellow podcaster Adam Curry in the 1,760th Saturday episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Despite Spotify’s attempts to restrict some of the most inflammatory episodes, Rogan’s podcast has an estimated 11 million listeners every episode.

Rogan, whose podcast surpassed all others as the most popular on Spotify in 2021, stated:

“It’s either going to fall apart completely, or we’re going to use this as an opportunity to right the ship and come up with a better way to live our lives.”

Curry hosts the right-wing podcast No Agenda, which has been chastised by the mainstream media and the medical profession for pushing conspiracy theories.

Curry explained that “there is a whole slew of young people who are just opting out, and they are moving to build parallel systems and parallel networks,” before adding, “I’m on the Bitcoin train because I believe my money is safer there.”

“The money system is broken. It causes inflation; it causes misery; it causes wars because it is linked to oil.”

Rogan’s perspective on the metaverse

Rogan and Curry also talked about the potential of a “Silicon Valley-controlled” digital metaverse and the significance of nonfungible tokens in this realm.

Rogan imagined a future in which businesses create their own digital tokens that customers would need to use to buy their items.
Curry, on the other hand, was unconvinced, saying, “That’s not the plan,” and predicting that powerful institutions and governments will instead focus on central bank digital currencies.

“You will have crypto. You will have a digital wallet. It will be directly from the Federal Reserve to you. And there will be little retail banking — that just won’t happen anymore.”

Despite the podcasters’ positive assessment of cryptocurrency, many community members remained dubious.

Both Rogan and Curry have proven to be highly divisive figures in the crypto community and beyond. Rogan is known for his outspoken opposition to “political correctness,” and he has been chastised in the past for making racist, sexist, and transphobic remarks.

CashApp paid Rogan in July 2021 to advise his listeners to acquire Bitcoin (BTC), and he took a BTC payment of $100,000 in November.
