It’s par for the course: the LinksDAO golfing startup might boost DAO adoption at the country club.

Nonfungible tokens (NFTs) or tokenization endangers no area of the economy or human life. Golf is the latest sport to succumb to the allure of NFTs and a round of decentralisation as a result of LinksDAO’s efforts.
LinksDAO raised $10.5 million in a sold-out NFT drop to fund its golfing ambitions. On the OpenSea platform, over 9,000 “leisure membership” and “global membership” NFTs were purchased and traded for Ether (ETH).
While 2021 was a successful year for decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) activity, with some treasuries increasing in value by 40x, it appears that golf is now driving crypto adoption.
In contrast to images of bored apes or raising donations for presidential campaigns, the LinksDAO NFTs contribute to the operation of a DAO, which “improves openness around certain areas of organisational governance of the club’s business.”
As a result, the LinksDAO NFTs are not golf club membership cards; they are the keys to community access, governance, and “a wide array of amenities.” The NFTs will eventually grant access to the first golf and leisure club in LinksDAO.
As expected, the NFT transaction is only a launching pad for the newly created firm. LinksDAO’s business plan prioritises “identifying a list of golf courses for acquisition” and developing a $LINKS cryptocurrency token. These plans should be completed by the middle of 2022.
Mike Dudas, the founder and CEO of The Block, is at the helm of the group. He was ranked #83 on Cointelegraph’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Crypto in 2020, despite being a loud anti-Bitcoin (BTC) maximalist. His Twitter identity has been changed to “Mike DAOdas,” and he is affiliated with The Block, 6th Man Ventures, a crypto VC, as well as Paxos and Venmo.
Despite the widespread market enthusiasm for DAOs, some golf aficionados and NFT collectors were perplexed by Dudas’ decision to launch a golfing enterprise through the creation of a DAO.
In a Tweet, Dudas explained that the LinksDAO NFT “doesn’t* grant ownership of the asset, but it does give governance powers over the club design process and the ability to purchase membership at the club once open.”
